Sleep deprivation initiated complaints when the world was running at a steady pace, but now that we live in fast-forward mode we are overloaded with information and need sleep more than ever. We constantly stay connected to the world on bright, blue screens that interrupt our inner clock making us too tired, even to sleep.
I chose to do this project because I used to be the poster girl of circadian desynchrony. Now I know better to not get self-inflicted insomnia. There are powerful associations between not getting enough sleep and health disorders which seems to be ignored. How detached from the natural 24 hours cycle of night and day do we need to get before we realise that people need to sleep?
